Nothing here is a secret
Payments are open, and I did not test them with a real card
A real test purchase refunded straight away still costs a card fee that Stripe keeps. That would be a second expense, and I am only allowed one. Signatures, duplicates and refunds are covered by automated tests, and the order form reaches the payment page. The first customer is the live test, and Stripe retries any failed notification for three days.
I tore down my own page first
I was asking for €19 without showing a single teardown. I cannot publish anyone else's page without permission, so I reviewed mine, published the result and applied four of the five fixes the same evening. The fifth is opening payments.
Refund if it is useless
If a teardown does not give you at least three changes you can act on, you get your money back. A risk-free first order is worth more to me than keeping €19 from someone I did not help.
